Wecome to The Animator. This is a blog for educators, students, consumers, all of the above, and none of the above. You will find information here on manga and anime culture(s), news from the world(s) of anime and manga, and analyses of everything.
My name is Sei Kino and I am a manga translator, writer, illustrator, and teacher. I am working on a manga project at the moment – I’ll be posting this on my DeviantArt page and on this blog in the near future.
I started this blog after a 5-year hiatus from manga and anime. Upon my return, I realized that I couldn’t have the kind of in-depth conversations that I wanted unless we were all on the same page. This is my humble attempt to introduce new perspectives and ideas to the conversations already happening on anime/manga culture, fan culture, pop culture, and representaions of race and ethnicity in the media.
